Since this book is a unique take on an alphabet book it is perfect for use at home or in a preschool classroom to teach the alphabet. But more specifically the order that the alphabet follows. The central concept of this book is the alphabet. Students will first use play dough to make coconuts to match the number on the palm tree card. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Let’s Write The Room This activity will make a great literacy center for your classroom because it’s a great way to practice the alphabet with your students. For example on one page it says "black-eyed P Q R S and loose-tooth T". The pictures and words almost tell the same story but the words go further to give more detail than the simple pictures. In this book the pictures and words have a complementary relationship. For example "chicka chicka boom boom will there be enough room up on top of the coconut tree" and "M is looped. The main use of figurative language in this book would be the descriptive rhyming words. That is until you get to the made up words. The vocabulary in this book is very simple. There is no background at all so your eyes are completely drawn to the letters. All the shapes in this book are very basic and other than the tree the letters are the only other things on the pages. The style would be simple, computer drawn. The bright color scheme gives a very happy and fun tone to the book. The coconut tree is brown and green like a tree should be and each of the letters are all different bright colors. The coconut tree is made out of sharp shapes and the only other illustrations are the letters. This book appears to be done in digital art. Finally they are all up, but looks like "chicka chicka boom boom" "a" is climbing back up the coconut tree. So letter by letter they all must get up. But with all those letters the tree bends and they all fall off.
